ANIMAL SHELTER TECHNICIAN I

Performs a variety of animal handling and maintenance services for the City of Commerce Animal Shelter, feeds and cares for animals at the shelter; is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the shelter facility, equipment and grounds; participates in clerical and other manual tasks associated with operating the animal shelter, pet licensing program, adoption program and performs related duties as required. Will be required to work weekends.

Police Lieutenant – CID

Performs a variety of routine and complex public safety work in the administration of the police department. Supervises police investigation and related law enforcement activities. Exercises general supervision over police investigative sergeants and subordinate officers and support staff.

ASSISTANT TO THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SAFETY

Under the direction of the Director of Public Safety, is responsible for performing a wide variety of professional administrative duties in support of the activities and services of the Director of Public Safety. Coordinates office services and provides information and assistance to the public regarding the assigned department or division. May exercise direct supervision over assigned staff. Develops and ensures the deployment of the strategic plan to promote increased responsible pet ownership through enforcement, stray pet population control and increasing the live release rate of animals. Coordinates assigned activities with other city departments and outside agencies, and evaluates and makes recommendations related to animal care procedures and methods. Exercises direct supervision over professional, technical, and clerical staff. Working conditions are primarily in an office environment.

BUILDING INSPECTOR I

Performs a variety of routine and complex work in the interpretation and enforcement of adopted codes and related rules and regulations including the International Building Code, International Residential Code for 1 and 2 Family Dwellings, the National Electrical and International Plumbing codes and standards. Performs maintenance of Municipal Airport and city owned buildings as assigned. Exercises supervision over Community Service workers and temporary staff as assigned.
