The City of Commerce operates under the guidelines of a Home Rule City in the State of Texas. The City Manager is appointed by an elected City Council and works directly for them. By Charter, it is the City Manager’s responsibility to present an annual budget to the City Council. After approval, it is the job of the City Manager to follow the guidelines of the approved budget.
The City Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the City of Commerce and the enforcement of all of the policies that are included in the city’s administrative policies.
